International Jaguar Luxury Cars
Jaguar has always been known for its luxurious style cars and sporty models throughout the years. From its early beginnings until now, Jaguar cars have undergone tremendous transformation in style and mechanics. The company, which was originally founded by William Lyons and William Walmsley, started out as a sidecar manufacturer for motorcycles before switching over to automobile production. Early pre-war models mostly consisted of 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 liter engines. In 1948, the Mark V became available to the public masses. This vehicle had 2.5 or 3.5 liter engines, along with a more streamlined look and alterations to the front suspension and braking system. The year 1948 was also a big breakthrough year for Jaguar cars. The XK120 sports car was released and received a very warm welcome among the masses. William Lyons' only concern about the vehicle was that it was too loud, so he asked engineers to start designing quieter models. In 1955, the Mark I small saloon became the first unibody style car produced by Jaguar. A 2.4 liter engine was used, but this was upgraded in 1959 with a larger size engine and broader windows. These refinements also led to the company renaming the automobile as the Mark II. It became extremely popular among the police forces within England thanks to its smaller size, but still being able to produce a lot of power. Other Mark style cars came about throughout the 50's and 60's including the Mark VIII, the Mark IX, and the more popular Mark X developed in 1961, which offered a novel design in contrast to previous Mark models with all round free suspension, along with a unibody construction.
Current Jaguar cars continue to impress when it comes to style and luxury. More recent models, such as the X-Type, a compact executive style car, were released in 2001. This model will continue to be produced throughout 2010, but Jaguar Land Rover has already decided to end production by the end of this year (2009) for this particular make and model. In 2008, the Jaguar XF, another executive style vehicle, came into the picture in order to replace the S-Type models. This gorgeous vehicle won several accolades for 'Car of the Year' award in a few popular car magazines. Currently this vehicle is equipped with either a 3.0 liter V6 diesel or petrol, along with a 5.0 liter turbo. In the United States a 4.2 liter engine can be seen in these Jaguar cars.
An even more luxurious style car is the Jaguar XJ. This vehicle has been around since the late 1960's. In 2003, a third generation of the Jaguar XJ came underneath the showcase spotlight. Although both the outside and inside of the vehicle are more customary in style, they had been totally re-engineered. There was some slight criticism about the style of the vehicle, some saying that it had too much of an old fashioned look, but in truth, the quality construction of the vehicle itself was quite outstanding in all areas. There is also a sportier type model of the XJ called the V8. This vehicle contains a high powered engine with very quick acceleration time from its initial resting state. The limo market also became interested in the XJ models as longer size wheelbases were introduced. These long style wheelbases yielded a larger amount of room within the vehicle itself, so transporting more people in one vehicle was very appealing.
The XK is another type of modern classic Jaguar car. This vehicle comes in two styles, a two-door coupe style car or a two-door convertible style car. Although somewhat pricier than other Jaguar cars, the XK, which was really a replacement of the Jaguar XK8, continues to make its waves among general car buyers. Jaguar is also known for its sport racing vehicles. Early success in the auto racing business dates back to the 1960's, but when Ford decided to make the Jaguar its Formula One entry into the racing scene, success was not as great with only two fantastic finishes that ended in victory over a 5 year period. Ford decided to sell the Formula One team over to the owner of Red Bull energy drinks, but Jaguar has not made an appearance on the sports racing front since 2004.
